The roots of Pacific Maritime Research started in the early 70’s when the founder was serving in the German Navy. His first hand experience of sea keeping of the minelayer “Bochum”, the former U.S.S. Rice County, LST 1089, posed all kinds of challenges navigating through rough weather in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

As ship technology improved he also participated in sea trials for a new (at the time) surveyor ship, the “Alster”. The “Alster” and the sister ship the “Oker” were built for measuring the seafloor and to conduct other geophysical explorations.

After leaving the Navy he pursued his academic training in Applied Mathematics in Germany and the United States. The founder also conducted research and taught for over 20 years in various capacities and subjects. In the late 80’s he also turned to computational issues in fluid dynamics. Since that time he has also been involved in the computational research of spectral methods applied to Navier Stokes Equations.
Our associates are either members of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) or the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA).

We combined the forces of our naval experience and the fascination for Fast Marine Transportation. We also continued to investigate the complexity of computational problems applied to Marine Hydrodynamics and Aero-Hydrodynamics.

Pacific Maritime Research, a division of Koenig&Associates, Inc., will serve the marine community with a passion for research.
